Prior to the start of competition our athletes and families participated in a lap of Masons Lane for a gold coin donation in support of the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.  The Centre raised $344 towards the appeal.

In perfect conditions for athletics we saw 7 Centre Records set as today’s meet.  Nelson Banigo (Eagles) had an awesome day on the track setting 3 new records.  Nelson ran 29.52 secs for the 200m, 1:09.70 mins for the 400m and 10.40 secs for the 60m Hurdles.  Elliott Banigo (Eagles) set his first Centre record running 36.62 secs in the Under 7 200 metres.
In the 200 metre hurdles 3 new records were set – Tamara Henry (Boomerangs) Under 13’s ran 35.64 secs, Kaleb Westerlaken (Blues) Under 13 recorded 34.93 seconds while Jesse Bullard (Blues) Under 14’s ran 37.45 secs.

This week’s PB Stars of the Week were Mitchell Wells, Jacob Ragusa, Ymir Travisson Heafield who all achieved 5 PB’s.  An amazing  285 PB’s were achieved for the meet.

Athletes are reminded that Centre Championship Day entry forms must be submitted to your Team Manager by Friday 14th February.   To be eligible for Centre Championships children must compete in at least half the available meetings before Christmas (from the time of registration with the Centre) and half the available meetings after Christmas.
