On Saturday the Centre’s held their final meet prior to Championship Day next Saturday.

The  Under 16’s celebrated, as their little athletics careers come to an end.  The younger athletes enjoyed a visit from Elmo (Keely) and Cookie Monster (Daen) as they conducted the warm up session, then participated in a few track events before joining our future athletes in a toddler race.

2 Centre records were broken, both in the 200 metre hurdles event.  Tamara Henry exploded out of the blocks with determination to better her own previously set Under 13 record and stormed home setting a new record time of 33.83 seconds.  Next up was Jesse Bullard in the Boys Under 14 event and another dominating performance saw Jesse take 2 seconds off his previous record to cross the line in 35.03 seconds.

Next Saturday the Centre Championships will be conducted.  This is the culmination of many weeks of competition, with athletes all vying for a medal performance in their 5 favourite chosen events.  The day will commence at 8.15 am when athlete are required to register their attendance with their team manager.  Athletes who fail to register will be deemed absent and scratched from all events.  Full Club uniform is a compulsory requirement for the Championships which includes athlete’s registration tag.

Championship events will conclude at approximately 2.30pm.  Athletes from all Clubs will then come together for the official Centre end of season presentations.  At the conclusion of presentations, athletes will then disperse to their Club area for Club presentations.
