On Saturday morning the still conditions were perfect for athletics.  4 new Centre records were set for the meet.  In the 200m hurdles, Under 14 athletes Ryan Lister (Eagles) and Tamara Henry (Boomerangs) both obliterated the previous records.  Ryan ran 31.01secs in the boys event while Tamara ran a time of 34.42secs in the girls event.  Matai Haunga (Eagles) added over 2 metres to his own Under 12 Discus record with a massive throw of 37.96 metres.  Matai just continues to get better each week and no doubt will be pushing the 40 metre mark in the new year.  While on the track, Nelson Banigo (Eagles) took over a second off the Under 10 200m record, which had previously stood for 11 years, running a new record time of 29.26secs.

Well done to our PB Stars of the Week – Tanae Grero and Lincoln Braszell who both achieved 5PB’s for the meet.

Next week’s meet will be held on Friday commencing at 5pm.  This will be the final meet prior to the Christmas break.  We will be expecting a special visit from Santa during the meet.
