Bacchus Marsh Little Athletics provided another successful meet on Saturday morning. The day started off with a medal presentation to the Boys Under 14 4x100m team. After a discrepancy with the results at Region Relays, the Centre received confirmation during the week of an error and the amendment saw Bacchus Marsh claim the bronze medal and also an additional progression to the State Championships.
Once all PB awards, training awards and the medal presentations were completed the program was underway. The Centre introduced a new electronic starting system which was purchased through a generous Bacchus Marsh Community – Bendigo Bank grant. This system is used at Region and State level, as well as a number of Centres have moved to this system, due to the old starting caps no longer imported to Australia. As the athletes continue to improve, the Personal Best count continues to rise. 341 PB’s were recorded on Saturday morning. This week’s PB Stars were Jez Baker Radford, Mitchell Gardiner and Riley Rogers, all achieving 6PB’s in their events.
Mitchell Gardiner broke his second record for the season. Mitchell threw a record distance of 12.33 metres in the Boys Under 14 Shot Put.
This week’s Centre meet will be held on Friday evening, with a modified program being conducted, commencing at 5pm. Saturday will see 10 teams represent the Bacchus Marsh Centre at the State Relay Championships to be held at Casey Fields, Cranbourne.
