At this week’s meet we witnessed three new Centre Records being set. The first record for the meet was set by William Lalor (Boomerangs) in the Boys Under 12 Discus. Will threw 35.03 metres, breaking his training partner Jarvis Miles’ record. The next record broken, was on the track by Nelson Banigo (Eagles). Nelson ran a sensational 200 metres, knocking almost a second off his previous record time, running an amazing 32.07 seconds. Nelson backed up his performances, this time in the 70 metres , when he ran 10.86 secs. Both these times are exceptional for an Under 8 athlete!
The ideal conditions saw a large number of Personal Best results recorded. Murphy Harrington, Ryan Lister and Edward Cummins all set 5 PB’s for the meet. Well done boys!
A volunteer’s award was this week presented to Vicki Cooke. The Centre always appreciates members putting up their hand to help out.
Education Awards were presented to Damon Colella and Tanae Grero. Both athletes were awarded Steigen socks donated by The Running Company, Ballarat.
Athletes are encouraged to attend the next two weeks training sessions on Tuesday 14 & 21 March, 5-6pm. All athletes attending both sessions will go into a draw to win 1 of 5 Canteen Awards.
