The end of season Centre Championship Day was scheduled to be held on Saturday, and although competition commenced, it wasn’t long before the clouds opened up and we were forced to postpone the day due to the wet conditions. Thankfully everyone returned on Sunday to continue the program, and although extremely windy we managed to complete yet another successful Championship Day. All athletes competed in their 5 favourite events with the top 3 placegetters in each final presented with medals.
3 Centre records were broken. Keely Rich (Dolphins) bettered her own record in the Under 16 Shot Put with a throw of 9.44 metres. Luatangi Haunga (Eagles) broke the Under 9 Shot Put record with a massive throw of 9.04 metres. Tamara Henry (Boomerangs) broke her own record in the Under 13 200 metre hurdles, running a new record time of 33.60 secs.
At the end of competition all athletes and supporters came together for the Centre presentations. 10 year Little Athletics Victoria service awards were presented to Kirsty Bresnan, Kayla Downes and Solomon Miesen. 7 year service awards were presented to Loki Baker-Radford, Annabel Muir, Phoenix Menz, Zara Sadhai, Tamara Henry, Ben Peterson, Jez Baker-Radford, Elise Cook, Xavier Goodman, Danielle Ide, Kiara Ive, Hayden Lloyd, Bridie Shanahan, Freya Lidgett-Egan and Braydn Rich.
