The 2018 Cross Country commenced on Saturday morning at Masons Lane Reserve.  Conditions were perfect for our first week of competition.

The Under 6’s were the first race up for the day and athletes competed over 500 metres.  Elijah Grero crossed the line in 1st place and Jake Shannon not too far behind in 2nd place.  The Under 7 & 8 athletes had a great race over 1000 metres with Deegan Doyle and Hudson Wisewould fighting it right out to the finish line, with Deegan taking line honours.  Tanae Grero was the first girl across the line.  In the Under 9 & 10 1500 metre race we saw another close race with William Flanagan pipping Oliver Carr on the finish line while Sailah Wisewould was the first girl home.  The Under 11 & 12 athletes competed over 2000 metres.  Xavier Goodman ran a well paced race to finish 1st while Elise Cook ran a superb race.   Jack Mutsaerts dominated the Open Age 3km event and looks like he is in form for another great Cross Country season.

Next week’s meet will be held at Bostock Reservoir, Ballan.

Directions – Take “Ballan/Daylesford” exit off the Western Freeway, turn left and head towards Ballan.  Cross over the railway line then turn right at “Ballan Mineral Springs” sign, Shaws Road (approx. 4km from freeway exit) and follow the road (mostly gravel) to end – approx. 2kms.
