Cross Country was held at Bostock Reservoir on Saturday morning in very cold conditions.

Myah Estlick was the first across the line in the Under 6 500 metres, while Braxton Dart was the first boy home in a personal best time.  In the combined Under 7 and 8 1000 metre event, Under 8 athlete Nicholas Ide took line honours while Under 7 athlete Deegan Doyle had a outstanding run, to finish 2nd overall.  Sarah Burton was the first female to finish.  The Under 9 & 10 athletes contested the 1500 metres and the standout performer was Freya Lidgett-Egan who claimed victory in the event.  Xavier Goodman continued his outstanding season recording a win in the Under 11 & 12 2000 metres event.  The Open age athletes raced over a 3000 metres course with Jack Mutesaerts winning the boys division and Evana Miesen the girls division.

Next week is our final home run.  Handicap races will be conducted, where athletes will start off using handicap staggered times that have been calculated from season results.  Athletes should arrive early so organisers know who is competing and handicap times can be finalised.  The first race will commence at 10.30am.

The theme of the final meet will be ‘Mad Hatter’ with all athletes and spectators encouraged to wear your best, worst, favourite, wackiest or most creative hat.

After all races have concluded, athletes and families will come together for Cross Country Presentations, followed by morning tea.  Please bring a plate.
