This week our athletes travelled down the Western Highway to Ballan for Cross Country, which was conducted at the Bostock Reservoir on Saturday morning. The sun was shining and although a slight breeze it was a near perfect day for running.
The Under 6 athletes enjoyed another taste of Cross Country running, with Elijah Grero notching up another win over the 500 metre distance. The Under 7 & 8 athletes had a competitive race over 1000 metres. Deegan Doyle and Imogen Lidgett-Egan were the winners this week. In the Under 9 & 10 1500 metre event Nicholas Ide, Under 9 and William Flanagan, Under 10 had a great tussle from start to finish, with only 1 second separating them at the finish, with William taking line honours; Mackenzie Estlick was the first girl across the finish line. Xavier Goodman was first home in the Under 11 & 12 2000 metre event while Danielle claimed first place this week. Over the 3000 metre event for the Open Age athletes, it was Jack Mutsaerts taking the win, while for the girls, Kirsty Bresnan and Tamara Henry had a close race with Kirsty just pipping Tamara on the line.
