This week’s Centre Cross Country meet was held at Egan’s Reserve, Greendale.  Although a flat course, the athletes were required to manoeuvre their way through the twist and turns of the winding courses.

The Under 6’s event saw a convincing win by Harry Johansen in their 500m event, while only .5 seconds separated Imogen Borg in 2nd place from Lucy Wise in 3rd.

Harrison Lovett continues his brilliant form for the season with yet another victory over the Under 7/8 1000 metres distance.  Myah Estlick, Mackenzie Quick, Iyla Robison and Mathilde Grant all crossed the finish line within seconds of each other.

In the combined Under 9 & 10 1500m event Nicholas Ide recorded a Personal Best time for another win with Oliver Quick in 2nd place and Harrison Lovett, also in a PB time, in 3rd place.  Kaylee McDowell continues to improve as the season progresses and also recorded a PB for the event.

The Under 11 & 12 athletes completed 2 laps of the 1km course, with 1st placed Samuel White unthreatened over the distance.  Mackenzie Estlick was the first girl home while Emma Stewart continues to improve each week, and a PB run saw her cross the finish line in 3rd place.  Well done to Anna Seymour, James Burton and Ava Cook who all recorded PB’s for the race.

In the Open age 3km event, Danielle Ide took line honours crossing the finish line in 13.44 while Tyrah Doyle placed 2nd with Grace Mutsaerts claiming 3rd place.  All girls recorded PB’s for their efforts..

Next week the Western Metro Region Cross Country Carnival will be held at Lake Dewar Lodge, Myrniong.  The Centre will be represented by the following athletes – James Burton, Oliver Carr, Elise Cook, Mackenzie Estlick, Shameka Grero, Tanae Grero, Tamara Henry, Nicholas Ide, Danielle Ide, Patrick Lovett, Solomon Miesen, Oliver Quick, Tansy Seymour, Anna Seymour and Emma Stewart.  All athletes should arrive by 8.45am ready to walk the course at 9am followed by a warm-up.  The first event will commence at 10am with the Under 9 1500m event.
