This week’s Cross Country meet was held at Myrniong Recreation Reserve.  We have been extremely fortunate with the weather so far, and today was another perfect day for our keen runners.

The Under 6’s athletes raced around the Reserve grounds and it was Elijah Grero who recorded a 4 second win over the much improved Jax Coulton, while Jake Shannon was the next home in 3rd  place.

The Under 7 & 8 athletes competed over the 1000 metre distance.  Deegan Doyle recorded a convincing win with Hudson Wisewould in 2nd place; Tanae Grero was next across the finish line and the first girl home.  Myah Estlick recorded the fastest time for the Under 7’s.

William Flanagan was first to cross the line in the Under 9 & 10 1500m event while Mackenzie Estlick ran a PB to finish 2nd overall, narrowly ahead of Nicholas Ide, who was the first Under 9 athlete home.

Mitchell Wells and Elise Cook continue their winning form recording victories in the Under 12’s 2000m race, while Noah Noorman and Tyrah Doyle were the Under 11 winners.

Bridget Henthorn produced a dominating performance in the Open Age 3km event with a massive victory over the remaining field.

Next week our Cross Country families will be travelling up to Benalla to participate in the Benalla Cross Country Open Day.  A number of families will be heading up on the Saturday and staying at the Benalla Leisure Park and then head out to Bald Hill Reserve on the Sunday morning to compete, while others will make the early morning journey up the Hume Highway on the Sunday morning.  Good luck to all those representing the Centre.
