The 2019 Cross Country season commenced on Saturday morning at Masons Lane Reserve, Bacchus Marsh. The weather was a little cool for our first week of competition, but this did not deter the 34 athletes who competed.
Lucy Wise was the sole competitor in the Under 6 500 metres event.
The Under 7 & 8 athletes raced over 1000 metres. Under 7 athlete James White was the overall winner closely followed by Under 8 athlete Elijah Grero. Meanwhile Myah Estlick was the first girl across the finish line.
In the Under 9 & 10 1500 metre race, Nicholas Ide recorded a convincing win with Deegan Doyle in 2nd place, although first Under 9 athlete home. Tanae Grero was the first girl to finish.
The Under 11 & 12 athletes competed over 2000 metres. Oliver Carr, Under 11 ran a great race to win while Mackenzie Estlick put in a determined effort to cross the finish line next.
Elise Cook was the standout performer in the Open Age 3km event and looks set for another great Cross Country season.
