Between April and July, Bacchus Marsh Little Athletics Centre conducts cross-country runs at times and venues as set out by the Executive member for Special Competition. This program will be available closer to the end of the Track and Field season.
The program is usually finished within an hour.
Cross country running is an important part of Little Athletics. It is an ideal way for those athletes who like the longer distances to enjoy a different style of competition. Further, participating in the program is beneficial for building strength and stamina for the next season of track and field events.
All children from Under 6 to Under 16 may participate.
Distances run at Bacchus Marsh are:
|Under 6||500 mts|
|Under 7-8||1000 mts|
|Under 9-10||1500 mts|
|Under 11-12||2000 mts|
|Under 13-16||3000 mts|
The season consists of approximately 12 centre meetings plus Region and State finals, with numerous Open Days from other Centres.
These finals are held for Under 9 to Under 15 age groups. Summer season BMLAC registration also covers athletes for the cross-country season. However new members are welcome to BMLAC during the cross-country season for a small registration fee.
