calendar is now available
The Bacchus Marsh Little
Athletics Centre Annual General Meeting will be held on
Thursday 8th May at 7:30pm in the Pat Lane Pavilion, Masons
Lane Reserve. All members are invited to attend.
A special meeting to vote on
the new Bacchus Marsh Little Athletics constitution and
incorporation will be held prior to our AGM at 7pm.
All committee positions will
become vacant at the AGM and although we are aware that some
members will be re-nominating for their positions, as yet we
have had no indication of nominations for Masons Lane
Committee Representative, Region Delegate, Registrar,
Publicity and Officials. If you are interested in
nominating for any positions please contact our Secretary,
Fiona Horan 5367 5616.

Track & Field Championship Results
Congratulations to all BMLAC
athletes who competed at the State Track & Field
Championships over the weekend. Stand out performances
for the Centre came from William Lalor who won a State
gold medal in the Under 9 Discus with a throw of 31.17m and
a silver medal in the Shot Put with a distance of 8.46
metres. Both these results were personal best throws
from Will. Jarvis Miles claimed two silver medals at the
Championships, the first in the Under 10 Shot Put with a PB
put of 9.22 metres and the
next, in the Discus with a throw of 33 metres, also a PB.
Lucas Shugg, in his final LAVic Track & Field competition,
ran a PB of 4:09.51 mins in the Under 15 1500m to claim the

who ensured duties were carried out. Special thanks to
our Team Managers Mark Byrnes and Leon Whitehand who ensured
all our athletes were prepared for competition and in
marshalling on time.
The State Championships
conclude the Track & Field season for Bacchus Marsh and all
families can now enjoy a well deserved break prior to the
Cross Country season commencing on May 3.
Another track & field season
has come to an end, after we celebrated our Championship Day
yesterday at Masons Lane Reserve. In cool conditions
our athletes performed outstandingly with some magnificent
performances. Medals were awarded to all top 3
placegetters in final events. Jack Shaw (Eagles) set
two Centre records in his final meet at BMLAC. The
first of the day came in the Under 16 400 metres where Jack
flew home in a time of 56.89 secs and the next record set
was in the 300m hurdles in a new time of 43.33 secs.
Well done Jack.
At the conclusion of the
program all athletes, Life Members and families joined
together for the Centre Presentations.
10 Years LA Vic certificates
were awarded to Olivia O'Brien, Jessica Roberts, Matthew

State Track & Field
Championships will be held at Lakeside Stadium on 29 & 30

Event timetable Marshalling
for the first event will be at 8am. The timetable is subject
to change and therefore any age group may be required to
marshal for events at 8am. Athletes need to make themselves
know to the team manager on arrival and before going to the
Marshalling area. Timetable is on website please ensure you
are familiar with your event times.
Call Rooms Call room times
shall be published prior to each competition. Athletes not
present in the marshalling area by close of the time, may
not be allowed to compete in that event. There are 4 call
rooms outlined in map
Uniform Plain black shorts
with no logos. Centre singlet which will be provided by the

given 1 officials position across the 2 days. This is based
on the number of athletes that have entered. All families

volunteers are required to wear closed toe footwear, as you
may be in close proximity to athletes wearing spikes

provided by the association. All Under 12 15 athletes are
required to do a crouch start.
Spikes A reminder that the
maximum spike length at Lakeside Stadium is 6mm for all
events except Javelin and High Jump where a maximum length
of 9mm is permitted
Under 9 11 No spikes allowed at ANY event
Under 12-15 May wear spikes in all track events
Progressions to Finals: 1st place in all Sprints then next 5

The final meet prior to
Championship Day was held last Saturday. William Lalor
once again produced another record breaking throw over at
the Shot Put pit, launching the shot put 8.30 metres to
improve on his own Under 9 Centre record.
Our Under 16 athletes enjoyed
Muck-Up Day and entertained athletes and families at their
final meet. A majority of this group have been
together for over 10 years at BMLAC and they will have many
very fond memories, from competing against each other,
competing as a team at relays and mainly sharing fun times
together - Good luck for the future.
Congratulations to William
Lalor (Boomerangs) who continues to improve in the throwing
events, this week breaking the Under 9 Discus record with a
throw of 29.73 metres. Certainly looks promising for
Will as he prepares for the upcoming State Championships.
With only 2 weeks until
Championship Day, athletes are reminded that full Club
uniform is compulsory when competing, this includes Club
polo shirt, plain black shorts and name tag. If you
have misplaced your Centre name tag, then please see the
ladies in the office next week for a replacement tag at a
cost $1. Athletes will not be permitted to
compete on Championship Day without their tag.

Roster is just about finalised and will be emailed to all
families in the coming days. Thank you to all families
who nominated to assist.
Three Centre records were
broken at this week's meet. William Lalor (Boomerangs)
broke a 19 year old record in the Under 9 Shot Put throwing
8.10 metres. Under 16 athlete, Jack Shaw (Eagles) set
a new 70m record in a time of 9.01 secs while his twin
brother Ryan Shaw (Eagles) leapt 1.83 metres in the High
Jump to better his own previous record.
There are only 2 Centre meets
left prior to our Championship Day. Athletes are
reminded to be eligible for the Centre Championships,
athletes must have attended half of the available meets
prior to, and after Christmas.

Western Metro Region Track & Field Championships will be
held on Saturday 22nd & Sunday 23rd February at Goldsworthy
Marsh will have 29 athletes representing the Centre.
participating at Region T&F are reminded to collect a Centre
singlet from the office this Saturday. If you have one of
the old singlets, without the LAVic logo, please swap it
over for a new one.
Junior Track & Field Championships
the luck to Shani Bullard (90mH, HJ), Lucas Shugg (800m
1500m), Matt Horan (LJ, TJ), Jack Shaw (400mH) and Ryan Shaw
(HJ) who will be competing at the Victorian Junior Track &
Field Championships this weekend at Lakeside Stadium, Albert
Bacchus Marsh athletes represented the Centre at the Annual
Maryborough Little Athletics Centre Open Day today, claiming
a swag of medals for the day.
Many thanks to all members who
arrived early this week, guaranteeing that competition
commenced at 8.30am sharp. It was fantastic to see our
parents promptly volunteer, ensuring that all events had
sufficient helpers and contributing to our early finish.
The 1500 metre events were conducted first up for the meet,
followed by the 800 and 300 metres. Well done, to all
athletes who competed in these events, in the hot
Three new Under 16 records were
set this week. Brant Lopes (Dolphins) added 40cm to
his Shot Put record with a new distance of 12.48 metres.
Jack Shaw (Eagles) had a great tussle in the 100 metre
sprint, claiming victory in a new record time of 12.27 secs.
Ryan Shaw (Eagles) added 1cm to his own High Jump Centre
record with a leap of 1.76 metres.

Congratulations to Claire
Byrnes, Jarvis Miles and Hayley Whitehand who represented
the Centre at the State Multi Event in Bendigo over the
weekend. Competition was conducted in extremely
difficult conditions, with temperatures reaching 41 degrees.
Many thanks to Kaye Byrnes and Bec Miles who carried out
official duties for the Centre during the competition.
A big thank you also to Mark Byrnes and Leon Whitehand, our
team managers, who ensured our athletes were well cared for
over the 2 days of the Multi Event.
Day 1 of competition saw Claire
Byrnes place 33rd in the Girls Under 11, whilst Jarvis Miles
finished 34th in the Boys Under 10 event. On Day 2,
Under 13 athlete Hayley Whitehand, was placed 14th overall.
A twilight meet was held this
week due to the State Multi Event being held on the weekend.
All athletes participated in 4 events for the evening.

Victoria Country Track & Field Championships
Congratulations to all current and past BMLAC athletes who
participated at the Athletics Victoria Country Championships
in Ballarat over the weekend.

Masons Lane were quite cool for athletics on Saturday and
with many still away on school holidays or away for the
Australia Day weekend, attendance was a little down. This
week two new Centre records were set in the Javelin event.
Courtney Homewood (Boomerangs) bettered her own Under 16
record with a distance of 22.52 metres, meanwhile Hayley
Whitehand threw a massive PB with a new record distance of
32.25 metres in the Under 13 Javelin. Well done girls!
Next Friday we
will be conducting a Twilight Meet commencing at 5pm, due to
the State Multi Event being held over the weekend at
Bendigo. Best of luck to the following BMLAC athletes
who will represent the Centre at the Multi Event: Claire
Byrnes, Bridget Casey, Lara Casey, Mason Casey, James
Dickson, Jarvis Miles and Hayley Whitehand.
Aths is back
On Saturday we
welcomed the return of the Little Aths season for 2014.
This year we made a decision to return a couple of weeks
earlier, to give our athletes the opportunity of the
additional competition, prior to some major meets which are
scheduled in the coming months.
State Multi Event will be held in 2 weeks, followed by the
Region Track & Field Championships on February 22 & 23 with
the State Championships later in March. The season
will conclude with the Centre Championships on March 22.
Centre record were set on the weekend. Lucas Shugg
(Blues) continues to be rewarded for his hard training,
breaking another long standing Centre record. This
time it was the Under 15 800m record, which had previously
stood since 1992. Lucas smashed the time with an
outstanding performance of 2:08.22 mins. Brant Lopes
(Dolphins) set 2 Records for the meet, the first was in the
Under 16 Shot Put with a new distance of 12.03 metres and
the second record was in the 70m sprint where he ran 9.30
secs. Jack Shaw (Eagles) bettered his own Under 16
100m Hurdles record in a new time of 15.23 secs. Keep
up the fantastic performances boys.
