 17/05/13  BMLAC Cross Country Open Day

The 8th Annual Bacchus Marsh Centre Cross Country Open Day was held at the Bacchus Marsh racecourse reserve on Saturday.  We welcomed visitors from the following Centres: Ararat, Ballarat, Benalla, Geelong, Knox, Melton South and Werribee.  The course was set in the backgrounds of the racecourse and most athletes encountered a gruelling hill climb mid race before a winding downhill to the finish line.

All athletes must be congratulated on their superb results; and the magnificent display of sportsmanship throughout the days competition was fantastic.

Congratulations to the Werribee LA Centre who claimed the BMLAC Cross Country Open Day perpetual trophy for the third time.

Many thanks to everyone who contributed to the success of our Open Day; the course marshals, rabbits, start/finish marshals, canteen staff, administration officers, announcers, raffle ticket sellers, uniform officers, donors and most importantly the athletes and parents.

 14/05/13  State Cross Country ENTER NOW

State Cross Country Championships will be held on Saturday 3rd August at Lardner Park, 155 Burnt Store Road, Lardner.  This event is for athletes in our Under 7 to Under 15 age groups - both boys and girls.

Championship Events apply only to the U9-U15 age groups. The 2013 'Invitational Race' is open to U7/U8 registered athletes only- no entries will be accepted for the U6 age group.

 13/05/13  Cross Country @ Bostock Reservoir

BMLAC Cross Country athletes travelled down the Western Highway to Ballan to compete in this week's Cross Country meet at the Bostock Reservoir.  The new athletes to Cross Country are showing improvements in their endurance levels and continue to improve each week. Although the local football & netball clashed with this week's run, it was still pleasing to see 61 athletes competing. Many thanks to all our parents who have been assisting the runners as rabbits and turtles.  Parents are most welcome to run with the kids and your encouragement can be rewarding for the children.

RESULTS

On Saturday we will conducting our Annual Cross Country Open Day at the Bacchus Marsh Racecourse.  Directions HERE.  The first event will commence at 11am and all athletes are invited to walk the course at 10.45am.  Canteen facilities will be available.  We look forward to welcoming all visitors to our Centre.

 5/05/13  Cross Country @ Greendale

This week's Cross Country meet was held at Egan Reserve, Greendale.  The relatively flat winding course made for some fast times with a large number of athletes recording PB's.  In total 70 athletes competed in races ranging from 500m to 3000m.

Once all races had concluded a number of families enjoyed lunch and a social chat at the Greendale Pub.

Next week's meet will be held at the Bostock Reservoir, Ballan commencing at 10.30am.  Directions HERE.

Next Saturday will be your last chance to submit your BMLAC XC Open Day entry form.  Entries close on Monday ENTRY FORM HERE.  Have you let Karen know if you are participating in the Benalla XC Open Day? If not, please let her know this week.

Cross County Newsletter Edition 2 now available HERE.

This week's Cross Country meet was held at Lady Northcote, Rowsley.  81 athletes competed in races throughout the undulating camp grounds.  Although the conditions were quite blustery, this did not deter our athletes from recording some great performances.

Next week's meet will be held at Egan's Recreation Reserve, Greendale commencing at 10.30am.  Directions HERE.

 20/04/13  Cross Country season commences

The 2013 Cross Country commenced today in beautiful sun shine at Masons Lane Reserve, Bacchus Marsh.  Over 70 athletes participated in races, ranging from distances of 500m to 3000m.  Many thanks to those who helped out with registrations, marshalling, officiating, rabbitting and in the canteen.

Next week's run will be held at Lady Northcote Camp, Rowsley commencing at 10.30am.  Directions HERE.

If you missed registering for this year's Cross Country season, don't panic, athletes are more than welcome to register at any of our home runs.  If you have any queries, don't hesitate to contact our Co-ordinator, Karen Shugg on 0400 502 485.

Congratulations to Keely Rich, Matt Horan & Rachel Jackson who competed at the Stawell Gift Little Athletics McDonald events over Easter.  Rachel & Matt made the final of the 100m events placing 4th & 6th respectively.  Keely placed 6th in her heat of the 100m.  Keely then backed up the following day for the 400m handicap, finishing 14th.

 23/03/13  State Track & Field Championships Day 2

Day 2 of the State Track & Field Championships proved a very successful one for the Bacchus Marsh Centre, with a medal tally of 1 Gold, 3 Silver & 1 Bronze.

Jack Shaw ran a PB time of 39.45 secs to take Gold in the Boys Under 15 300m Hurdles final.  Jack then claimed a Silver medal in the 400m final, running another PB of 52.90 secs.  Keeping it in the family, brother Ryan then leapt 1.86 metres to take Silver in the Boys Under 15 High Jump.  In his first year of State competition, Jarvis Miles won a Silver medal in the Boys Under 9 Discus.  Lucas Shugg backed up from his bronze medal performance on Day 1 to take bronze again in the Under 14 1500m.

Congratulations to all BMLAC athletes who represented the Centre with such pride.  Many thanks to all families who carried out their duties over the weekend.  And a big thank you to our team managers, Mark Byrnes & Leon Whitehand and officials coordinator, Kylie Bullard who's dedication and commitment to the Centre contributed to the great success for the BMLAC during the Championships.

Day 1 of the State Track & Field Championship in Bendigo saw some wonderful performances from the Bacchus Marsh athletes. 

Congratulations to Lucas Shugg who claimed a bronze medal in the Under 14 800m final.

 19/03/13  World Cross Country Championships

Best of luck to past BMLAC member, Courtney Scott who will be competing in the Junior 6km event at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships in Poland this Sunday.

 17/03/13  State Track & Field Duty Roster

BMLAC Duty Roster for this weekend's State Championships HERE.

The 2012/13 season concluded on the weekend with the Centre Championships held at Masons Lane. Athletes participated in their chosen events with medals being presented to the first 3 placegetters in each event.
We had 3 new Centre records set at the Championships. William Lalor (Boomerangs) bettered his record set last week by over a metre in the Under 8 Discus, throwing a new record distance of 27.74 metres.  Jack Shaw (Eagles) slashed .01 secs off the Under 15 400m record, setting a new record time of 55.39 secs.  Courtney Homewood (Boomerangs) threw 20.06 metres on her final throw of the competition to break the Under 15 Javelin record.

 At the conclusion of events all athletes, family and friends gathered for the Centre Presentations. Unfortunately the weather conditions turned for the worse and awards were presented in the rain.

 09/03/13  BMLAC Meet

The final meet prior to our Centre Championships was held this weekend.  We commenced the day with all athletes and family members participating in a Lap for Kids, walking a lap of the track for a gold coin donation, raising $139.25 for the Royal Children's Hospital.

William Lalor (Boomerangs) had a fantastic meet, setting 2 new Centre records for the day.  Will's first record was set in the Boys Under 8 80m Hurdles, running a slick 15.54 secs.  Will then threw over a 5 metre PB in the Discus to set a new Centre Record of 26.43 metres.  Well done, Will.
