What a fantastic response to the start of our 2019/20 Track and Field Season!
This season the Committee decided to run a Come and Try Day in conjunction with our first competition meet. This was to allow trialling athletes to obtain a better indication of how our Centre operated on a weekly basis. Almost 150 registered athletes competed today, several for the first time, plus 48 new Come and Try athletes enjoyed the opportunity of their first taste of athletics. Thank you to all returning athletes, officials and team managers who helped out with assisting our new/trial athletes. It was pleasing to see so many new faces around the Centre.
A reminder new athletes are only permitted to 2 free trial days before they are required to register as financial members. If you have decided that your child enjoyed their experience today, jump online and register HERE now. New athletes are required to provide proof of age to finalise your registration.
Well done to our new Committee members who had a very busy day. Alli Grant, our Registrar was fantastic and we thank everyone for their patience as we processed your details. A great job from our new Canteen Manager, Brenda Simons, with canteen sales well above expectations – thank you everyone for your support. Jodie Parker returned this season to take on the role of Officials and thank you to all parents, new and old who stepped up to fill offiating roles. And finally to the remaining Committee who were at the track at the crack of dawn to ensure we were all set for the start of competition, as well as the many months of planning leading up to today – THANK YOU.
Congratulations to Nelson Banigo (Eagles) who broke our first record for the season. Nelson ran 28.50 seconds for the Boys Under 11 200 metres; a record which had stood for 17 years.
Results for all registered athletes can be found HERE.
Training will commence for all registered athletes this Tuesday 4.45-5.30pm for Under 6-9 athletes concentrating on education. Then training sessions for Under 10-16 athletes from 5.15-6pm.

All athletes must also wear their Subway Registration tag at all times while competing.
Thank you to Ian, The Mobile Coffee Man who will be providing our coffee this season. Feedback was very positive and we look forward to seeing Ian each week.
