2019 Subway State Relay Championships

Timetable: The final State timetable is available HERE. Athletes must report to their coaches on arrival.   All athletes should arrive at least 1 hour prior to their scheduled event time, unless otherwise instructed by their coach.  Please allow plenty of time for parking and making your way into the stadium.  Parking at the venue is limited and entry queues can be long, especially earlier in the day.

Marshalling (Call Room): Coaches will escort their teams to the marshalling area.  Full teams are to present to the Call Room no later than 20 minutes prior the scheduled start time of their event.  Teams not present in the marshalling area by close of the time, will not be allowed to compete.  NO parents or coaches are permitted in the Call Room under any circumstances.

Uniform:  Plain black shorts with no logos, no pockets.  Centre singlets must have the LAVic logo and Coles Logo.  If you require a singlet, please hire one from the Centre Office. All athletes MUST wear their Subway Registration tag on the front of their singlet.

Canteen: Canteen facilities will be available.

Entry & Program:  Free Entry.  This year, the program will be supplied online and sent out on the Thursday prior to the Relays. There will be no printed programs available on the day.

Officials: BMLAC have been allocated duty in the merchandise tent for these Championships.  Duty Roster HERE.

Spikes:  Only 7mm spikes are permitted to be worn.

  • Spikes are not permitted to be worn by Under 9-10 athletes.
  • Under 11-15 athletes may wear spikes in all events. All types of spikes are permitted at Casey Fields.

Heat to Final Progressions: 

If there are two heats, the first three placegetters in each heat plus the next two fastest will advance to the final and no more than eight.

If there are three heats, the first two placegetters in each heat plus the next two fastest will advance to the final and no more than eight.

If there are four heats, the first placegetter in each heat plus the next four fastest will advance to the final of no more than eight.

Allocation of heats

Teams will be placed in heats using the Region final time.

A zig zag method will be used to evenly distribute teams across heats, except for Timed Finals.

Seeding of Lanes:

Heats Random lane allocation

Single Final (Mixed Sex 4x200m, Medley) Based on performances from the Region Carnival. The allocation of lanes will be in 3 draws as follows;

  • Top 4 times randomly spread across lanes 3, 4, 5 & 6.
  • Fifth and sixth best times randomly allocated lanes 7 & 8.
  • Seventh and eight best times randomly allocated lanes 1 & 2.

Final (4x100m, Mixed Sex 4x100m) Based on the placings and times of each heat. The allocation of lanes will be in 3 draws as follows;

  • Top 4 times randomly spread across lanes 3, 4, 5 & 6.
  • Fifth and sixth best times randomly allocated lanes 7 & 8.
  • Seventh and eight best times randomly allocated lanes 1 & 2.

Timed Finals (4x200m) Teams shall be allocated and seeded on the performance achieved during the Region Carnival. The Timed Finals will be conducted from slowest to fastest. The last Timed Final will contain the eight fastest Teams. The allocation of lanes will be in 3 draws for both Timed Finals as follows;

  • Top 4 times randomly spread across lanes 3, 4, 5 & 6.
  • Fifth and sixth best times randomly allocated lanes 7 & 8.
  • Seventh and eight best times randomly allocated lanes 1 & 2.

The performances from both finals will be used to determine the overall placing of teams.

Presentations: 

State Relay Championships Event Finals

  • Medals will be presented to the first three placegetters.
  • A team pennant will be presented to the first three placegetters.
  • All athletes listed on the Original Team Sheet or Team Change Form, who competed on the day, will be eligible to receive a medal. Note: There are no emergency medals, athletes must have competed on the day in a Team.

Merchandise: Championship t-shirts will be available in the merchandise room for $37.  They can also be pre-ordered here up until Monday 9th December 9am.

Card or cash payments will be accepted at the Merchandise tent. Merchandise will open at 8:30am.
