The Centre held their Annual Combined Event (formerly Multi Event) on Saturday morning.  Each athlete competed in five events for the meet – hurdles, spring, distance, discus and long jump, gaining points in each event.  The blustery tail winds played havoc with the hurdles but certainly was appreciated by the sprinters with 114 personal best results recorded in the 70 & 100 metre events.  A total of 431 PB’s were recorded for the Combined Event.  PB Stars of the Week were awarded to Archer Sheppard, Rohan Sayers and Matthew Elefterescu – all boys recorded the maximum 5PB’s.

Tamara Henry set a new Centre record in the Girls Under 16 Long Jump, leaping a new record distance of 4.94m bettering the previous record by 54cm.

Presentations for the Combined Event will be made next Saturday prior to the commencement of competition.  Winners will be presented with a trophy and medals for second and third placegetters.  All competitors will receive a certificate with full results.

Next Saturday’s meet will be program 4 with Eagles Club on set-up duty from 7.30am and Blues on pack-up duty.

As we draw closer to the end of our first half of the season, athletes are reminded to be eligible for Centre Championships children must compete in at least half the available meetings before Christmas (from the time of registration with the Centre) and half the available meetings after Christmas. The Centre Championship Day will be held on March 20.
