Lady Northcote Camp in Rowsley was the scene for week 4 of the Centre Cross Country competition.
This week we had a record number of 100 participants complete their allocated courses.
The day commenced with athletes walking part of the course prior to participating in a dance warm-up routine conducted by one of our parents, Emilia. This added activity set the scene for another magnificent day, enjoyed by everyone who attended.
The Under 7 & 8 athletes were first to compete and a large field of 40 runners tackled the 1km course. Always a spectacular race to witness, this week did not disappoint, while athletes strived to improve on their previous times. Under 7 athlete Jordy Fenwick, running another PB this week, was the overall winner for Bacchus Marsh. Angus Jacobsen was the first Under 8 athlete across the finish line. Milly Johansen, Under 7 and Olive Blokland, Under 8 were the Girls age group winners. Eykas Khaira, Oliver Dalton, Scarlett Tatchell, Victoria Hannam and Paige Foley all recorded PB’s, as did Meeka Booth who notched up her third consecutive PB.
The Under 9 and 10 athletes completed a 1500m course of the campgrounds. Rylee Robinson claimed back to back wins the in Girls Under 9 age group. 15 athletes recorded PB’s for the event. A special effort from Cody Medcraft, as he took two nasty falls in the later stages of the race, but his determination saw him eventually cross the finish line, albeit a little bruised and sore.
