The Centre held their Official Season Opening on Saturday morning at Masons Lane Reserve.  Former BMLAC athlete and current Port Adelaide AFL footballer, Zak Butters was special guest.  President, Maria Downes welcomed everyone to the Opening, thanking all sponsors for supporting our Centre and wished all athletes the best of luck for the 2021/22 season.  Maria then introduced Zak to members, acknowledging his progress from little aths and into the AFL.  The 2021/22 Centre captains were announced – Danielle Ide and Braydn Rich were then presented by Zak with their Captain badges and certificates.  Once all the formalities of the Opening had concluded competition was underway.

In only the second week of competition an amazing 242 Personal Best results were recorded.  Lachlan Simons led the way, recording 5 PB’s for the meet.  Lincoln Braszell recorded a new Centre record in the Boys Under 16 Long Jump, leaping a whopping 5.56 metres.

Registrations numbers continue to grow, and new athletes are always welcome to a 2 week free trial offer.  Those athletes who have already taken up this opportunity are now required to officially register to be eligible to compete this Saturday.

Training seasons will be held every Thursday.  Under 6-9 athletes will train at 4.30pm and Under 10-16 athletes will commence training at 5pm.

Next Saturday will be program 4 commencing at 8.30am.  Eagles Club are on set-up from 7.30am and Blues are on pack-up duty.

The 2021 Cross Country presentations will be held after competition on Saturday commencing at 1pm.  Athletes from Melton and Gisborne will join BMLAC athletes for the Cross Country end of season celebrations.
