What an amazing weekend at the Western Metro Region Track & Field Carnival, held over two action-packed days at Corio. Bacchus Marsh Little Athletics Centre was proudly represented by 46 athletes and the results across the weekend were nothing short of outstanding.
Our athletes rose to the occasion, with 10 athletes qualifying for the State Championships across 17 events, a tremendous achievement at Region level. Even more impressive was the overall medal haul, with BMLAC bringing home 49 medals:
17 Gold
16 Silver
16 Bronze
Personal Bests were flying thick and fast all weekend, so many, in fact, that we simply lost count. The determination and effort shown by every athlete was incredible.
The atmosphere was fantastic and we extend a huge thank you to all the families, friends and supporters who came along to cheer on our athletes. Hearing the calls of “Go Marsh” echoing down the straight was truly special and gave our competitors an extra boost when they needed it most.
A massive thank you must go to Jess Lloyd and Alli Grant, who did an exceptional job as Team Managers across the Carnival. Their organisation and support ensured our athletes were marshalled to events on time and that families felt supported throughout the weekend. We are incredibly grateful for the time they dedicated to our Centre, once again.
We also extend our sincere thanks to Andy Johansen, Billy Blokland and Bethan White, who generously gave their time and expertise as Shot Put Chiefs across the carnival.
Thank you as well to our wonderful parents, who once again stepped up and carried out their allocated duties across the Carnival. Your willingness to fill these roles and ensure all events ran as required, does not go unnoticed.
Most importantly, congratulations to all of our athletes on your fantastic performances. You competed with pride, sportsmanship and determination and were outstanding representatives of BMLAC. We are incredibly proud of each and every one of you.
With such strong results across the weekend, we eagerly look forward to a large number of State progressions, which Little Athletics Victoria is expected to announce later this week.
