Lady Northcote Camp, Rowsley was the venue for this week’s Cross Country meet.

After a frosty morning, athletes were welcomed with beautiful sunshine and ideal conditions for running.

The first event for the morning was the Under 9 & 10 athletes contesting the 1500m distance around the camp grounds.  Lenny Closter claimed another win for the season while Ezekiel Horne continues to improve on both his technique and endurance taking 2nd place.  Myah Estlick took the win for the girls with Melton South’s Balreet Kaur Mann not far behind.

Riley Rogers once again led from start to finish in the Under 11/12 2km event. Patrick Lovett crossed the line in 2nd place while Lachlan Simons continues to improve weekly and placed 3rd overall. Mataya Leetham (Melton), Imogen Lidgett-Egan and Austin Shea took the top 3 places for the girls.

In the 3km open age event Matthew Elefterescu was the clear winner while Oliver Carr and Samuel White battled it out for the minor places.  Elise Cook crossed the line first for the girls while Under 13 athlete Mackenzie Estlick was next home with Under 16 athlete Tamara Henry placing 3rd.

Harry Holland claimed victory in the combined Under 7 & 8 1km race with Under 7 athlete Harry Wark (Melton) next across the finish line.  Anni Clark continues to push the boys as she closes the gap, crossing the finishline in 3rd place overall, only seconds behind the overall winner.

The final event for the day was the Under 6’s, racing over the shorter distance of 500m.  Rylee Robinson is showing much improvement in distance running and took line honours this week.  Archie Clark and Divgeet Kaur Mann (Melton) were 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Next Saturday athletes will return to Ballan, this time competing at the Bostock Reservoir.  Warm up 10.15am, first race 10.30am.  Athletes must wear their Club/Centre uniform the Commonwealth Bank registration tag is a LAVic compulsory requirement.
