After a delayed start to the 2021/22 Track & Field season due to COVID restrictions, Bacchus Marsh athletes hit the track on Saturday morning in glorious sunshine.  The kids were all excited to be back participating in sport and socialising with friends again.  The smiles on their faces said it all.

We welcomed back returning members and it was fantastic to see over 50 athletes take up the 2 week free trial offer.  Our registration numbers certainly look promising for the season.  Registrations are still available for those re-renewing and trial athletes.  New athletes are required to provide proof of age to finalise your registration.  Register HERE.

Thank you to all the parents who volunteered to carry out their officiating duties.  A massive thank you to those trial parents who even stepped in and officiated at events.  For the day’s competition to run smoothly, at least 50 adult helpers are required. Most parents enjoy officiating at an event and there is always a Chief Official to assist you with the education of officiating.

Congratulations to Bridie Shanahan (Dolphins) who broke 2 Centre records.  The first new record was set in the Under 16 Girls Shot Put where Bridie threw a distance of 9.97m.  In her final event for the day, Bridie smashed the Javelin record bettering it by nearly 4 metres throwing 29.02 metres.

Results for all registered athletes can be found HERE.

Next Saturday will be our Official Season Opening.  The 2021/22 Centres Captains will also be announced.  Former BMLAC Eagles member and Port Adelaide footballer, Zak Butters will be attending to officially open our season and present captains badges.

All athletes are reminded that Club uniforms are compulsory, this includes Club Polo shirts which are available at the Office or via our Online Shop HERE and plain black shorts.  Athletes must also wear their Commonwealth Bank Registration tag at all times while competing, this is a compulsory LAVic requirement.

Training for registered members is on Thursday’s. Under 6-10 at 4.30pm and Under 11-16 from 5.15pm.
