Bacchus Marsh Little Athletics Centre was proudly represented at the State Combined Event Championships, with athletes competing across two challenging days of competition. Day 1 presented extremely tough conditions, with strong and blustery winds testing athletes across all disciplines. Conditions improved on Day 2, although swirling winds continued to add an extra challenge.
Brodie Jreige (U9) competed in his first State Combined Event, gaining valuable experience at the state level across multiple events. Brodie’s results included 8th in Long Jump, 10th in the 60m Hurdles, 14th in the 100m and 30th in Discus. Unfortunately, Brodie was a DNS for the 800m. A great learning experience and introduction to combined events for Brodie.
Tahlia Hunter (U14) displayed determination across a demanding two-day program, finishing 15th overall. Her performances included 14th in the 200m, 15th in High Jump, 13th in Shot Put, 13th in the 80m Hurdles, 15th in Long Jump, and 15th in the 800m, showing resilience throughout the Championships.
Our Centre Captain, Nicholas Ibrahim (U17) delivered an outstanding performance, finishing 4th overall in a highly competitive field. Across the Championships, Nick placed 2nd in Long Jump, 3rd in Discus, 3rd in High Jump, 5th in the 100m, 6th in the 110m Hurdles and produced a dominating 1st place finish in the 800m, with no legal throw recorded in Javelin. Nick’s results were a highlight of the weekend and a testament to his consistency and competitive spirit.
Nyah Halfhide (U12) achieved an impressive 5th overall, highlighted by a convincing 1st place in the Shot Put. Nyah also recorded 7th in the 100m, 10th in the 80m Hurdles, 16th in Long Jump, and 5th in the 800m, demonstrating strength across both track and field events.
Scarlett Borg (U11) showed great resilience to finish 25th overall, with a standout performance of 1st place in the Shot Put. Scarlett also competed strongly in the 100m, 80m Hurdles, Long Jump and 800m, gaining valuable state-level experience.
Hunter Robinson (U11) finished 28th overall, competing across all events with determination. His results included 17th in Discus, along with solid performances in the 100m, 80m Hurdles, Long Jump and 800m, continuing his development at state competition level.
Congratulations to all Bacchus Marsh athletes on a tremendous Championships. Competing in combined events under such challenging conditions is no easy task and we are incredibly proud of the resilience, determination and sportsmanship shown throughout the weekend.
A huge thank you to our Centre President, Sandra, who stepped into the Team Manager role on Day 1 and to Jess Lloyd for managing the team on Day 2. We also sincerely thank all parents who carried out their allocated duties — your continued support is greatly appreciated.
